Product Detail

Product Namep53(Phospho-Ser6) Antibody

Host SpeciesRabbit

ClonalityPolyclonal

PurificationAntibodies were produced by immunizing rabbits with synthetic phosphopeptide and KLH conjugates. Antibodies were purified by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific phosphopeptide. Non-phospho specific antibodies were removed by chromatogramphy using non-phosphopeptide.

ApplicationsWB IHC

Species ReactivityHu

SpecificityThe antibody detects endogenous level of p53 only when phosphorylated at serine 6.

Immunogen TypePeptide-KLH

Immunogen DescPeptide sequence around phosphorylation site of serine 6 (P-Q-S(p)-D-P) derived from Human p53.

Acts as a tumor suppressor in many tumor types; induces growth arrest or apoptosis depending on the physiological circumstances and cell type. Involved in cell cycle regulation as a trans-activator that acts to negatively regulate cell division by controlling a set of genes required for this process. One of the activated genes is an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases. Apoptosis induction seems to be mediated either by stimulation of BAX and FAS antigen expression, or by repression of Bcl-2 expression. Implicated in Notch signaling cross-over.
