Western blot analysis on mouse Thymus using anti-CD8 polyclonal antibody
The CD8 antigen is a cell surface glycoprotein found on most cytotoxic T lymphocytes that mediates efficient cell to cell interactions within the immune system. Cluster of Differentiation 8 (CD8) is a disulphide-linked heterodimer consisting of the unrelated α and β subunits. Each subunit is a glycoprotein composed of a single extracellular Ig-like domain, a polypeptide linker, a transmembrane part and a short cytoplasmic tail. CD8 alpha chains binds to class I MHC molecules alpha-3 domains. CD8 is thought to play a role in the process of T-cell mediated killing.
