Western blot analysis of extracts from 293 cells, transfected with Tau and treated with calf intestinal phosphatase (CIP) using Tau(Phospho-Thr217) Rabbit mAb.
Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded Mouse brain tissue stained for Tau(Phospho-Thr217) using 58004 at 1/50 dilution in immunohistochemical analysis.

ICC/IF staining of Tau(Phospho-Thr217) in mouse brain tissue. mouse brain was fixed with 4% Paraformaldehyde permeabilized for 20 minutes.
Samples were incubated with 58004 at a working dilution of 1/50. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 647 goat anti rabbit, used at a dilution of 1/500.
Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI.

 Promotes microtubule assembly and stability, and might be involved in the establishment and maintenance of neuronal polarity. The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, suggesting that tau functions as a linker protein between both. Axonal polarity is predetermined by tau localization (in the neuronal cell) in the domain of the cell body defined by the centrosome. The short isoforms allow plasticity of the cytoskeleton whereas the longer isoforms may preferentially play a role in its stabilization.
