Detection Method:Sandwich
Test principle:This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PROG in samples. An antibody specific for PROG has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPROG present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PROG is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PROG bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Product Overview:Progesterone (P4) is an endogenous steroid and progestogen sex hormone involved in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, and embryogenesis of humans and other species. It belongs to a group of steroid hormones called the progestogens, and is the major progestogen in the body. Progesterone is also a crucial metabolic intermediate in the production of other endogenous steroids, including the sex hormones and the corticosteroids, and plays an important role in brain function as a neurosteroid.
